How to care for American holly

How to care for American holly

1. Reasonable watering

The North American holly plant likes a humid growing environment, so you must pay attention to watering during maintenance. You can water it according to the principle of watering when the soil is dry and watering when the soil is wet. During the growing period, when the soil becomes dry, water it thoroughly in time to avoid water accumulation. If you accidentally give too much water, you should drain the remaining water in the pot in time and place it in a well-ventilated place.

2. Correct fertilization

During the growth and maintenance process, attention should be paid to correct fertilization, which can be done according to the principle of applying small amounts of fertilizer frequently. During the growth and flowering period, provide nutrients with fertilizer in time. Pay attention to the concentration when applying fertilizer. Never apply concentrated fertilizer. The temperature is cold in winter and the growth rate is slow, so you can stop fertilizing.

3. Supplement sunlight

Sunlight is very important for the growth of North American holly. It is relatively light-loving and must be exposed to sufficient sunlight during its growth. Keeping it in a place with good light can promote the plant to synthesize nutrients through photosynthesis, thereby allowing the plant to thrive.

4. Suitable soil

Soil is the basis of growth, and it needs to be provided with loose, fertile sandy soil, which is conducive to growth. It can be mixed with garden soil, humus soil and peat soil, and then disinfected before use. Note that the potting soil needs to be replaced every 1-2 years.
