Cutting propagation method of Gloxinia

Cutting propagation method of Gloxinia

time

The best time to propagate Gloxinia by cuttings is in spring, summer and autumn.

Cuttings

Gloxinia can be grown by whole-leaf cuttings, cracked-leaf cuttings, and stem cuttings. Choose full and strong leaves, or cut the tender stems from the tubers as cuttings.

Reproduction

When choosing whole leaf cuttings, you can cut the leaves horizontally into 1-2 cm lengths, and place the strip-shaped leaf blocks containing the main veins in an insulated box with moist medium in a cool and ventilated place.

When choosing stem cuttings, take the stem segment with the terminal bud, remove some leaves and insert it into a moist medium, place it in a semi-shaded place and pay attention to moisturizing.

When the seedlings regenerate, they can be transplanted and raised, and applying slow-release fertilizers with relatively high phosphorus and potassium content can promote the growth of tubers.
