What to do if the leaves of Chlorophytum comosum become soft

What to do if the leaves of Chlorophytum comosum become soft

1. Root rot

The roots are the source of nutrients for plants. If the roots are damaged, the ability to absorb nutrients becomes weaker and the leaves naturally have no energy to grow. Generally, this kind of root rot occurs because too much water is given and drainage is not smooth, which will cause damage to the roots. It has a fleshy root system and can tolerate slight drought, but cannot tolerate waterlogging. This should be kept in mind when growing it.

Solution

Take out the plant and check the root rot. If the root rot is minor, cut off the injured roots and leave the healthy ones. Be gentle to avoid damaging the entire root system. Replant the soil and use containers with good drainage and ventilation and loose sandy soil. Don’t give too much water in normal times, reduce the frequency and amount of water. Once a week in summer and less often in winter. Water once every ten days or half a month. If you find dust on the leaves, you can spray water on them. When watering, make sure to water it thoroughly until you see a little water leaking out from the bottom of the pot.

2. Air drying

If there is insufficient moisture in the air, the leaves cannot sense moisture at all and will become soft and wilted, and some may even break in the middle.

Solution

Provide a moist environment for the leaves and keep them moist. Especially when it is relatively dry in autumn and winter, remember to spray water. The water temperature should be about the room temperature, and you can spray the leaves with water every week.
