Basic information on mint sowing

It is very simple to propagate mint by sowing. The sowing time is between March and June, or in September. The flowering time is generally from June to August.

Characteristics of mint varieties

Mint is a perennial herb and a kind of vanilla plant. The plant grows very fast and generally grows in a creeping manner. The plant height is about 30 cm and the crown width can reach 100 cm. When growing mint, you should plant it in a flowerpot to control its growth.

Mint has many uses. It can be used as a cooking ingredient or made into refreshing drinks.

How to propagate mint by sowing

If mint is sown indoors, its sowing period is very long, and it can be sown from winter to early summer. When sowing, choose relatively loose and breathable soil, then keep the soil moist, and sow the seeds on the moist soil. After sowing, do not cover the seeds with soil. You can cover them with plastic film to keep the soil moist. The temperature should be kept between 21℃ and 25℃. Generally, seedlings will emerge in 1-2 weeks.

When the mint seedlings grow to a certain size, they can be transplanted. When transplanting, transplant it into a flowerpot with a diameter of 10-12cm. The light can be full sun or half sun. In the later stage of maintenance, water when the soil is dry and wet.

Mint needs to be harvested in time before it blooms. Pick the fresh leaves and save them for use. Be careful in autumn to cut off old stems.
