1. Where does it grow?

Dragon fruit grows on the branches of the dragon fruit tree. From a distance it looks like it is growing on a tree, but in fact it is not a tree, but a cultivated variety of the genus Opuntia in the Cactaceae family. This plant not only bears fruit, but is also a very good ornamental plant with particularly beautiful flowers. Its flowers are also edible, so it can be said that it is a treasure from head to toe.

2. Where is the origin

Pitaya is native to Central America and is mainly distributed in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, Panama and Cuba. It was then introduced to Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam and Thailand, and also to Taiwan Province of my country. Subsequently, my country's southern coastal provinces and cities began to plant it, such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and other places.

3. Nutritional value

Dragon fruit tastes sweet and is very nutritious. It is rich in protein and dietary fiber, as well as vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin C and various trace elements. Moreover, the sugar it contains is not fructose and sucrose, but easily absorbed glucose, which is very suitable for consumption after exercise.

4. Food taboos

Although dragon fruit is good, you should also pay attention to some eating taboos. For example, it cannot be consumed together with milk, as the nutrients contained in the two will react and reduce their respective values. In addition, it is not advisable for diabetic patients and people with cold constitution to eat too much, and women should not eat it during the rose season, otherwise it will aggravate the degree of abdominal pain.
