Cutting propagation of Cordyline

Cutting propagation of Cordyline

Time for cutting propagation of Cordyline

Cutting propagation is a common propagation method for Cordyline. There are many time options for its cutting propagation. As long as the conditions are suitable, cuttings can be carried out throughout the year. If cuttings are taken in spring and autumn, the survival rate will be very high, while the rooting rate will be slower in winter.

Selection of cuttings of Cordyline

When taking cuttings of Cordyline, be careful to choose the cuttings. When pruning, the pruned branches can be used for cuttings. Just choose the ones that grow stronger.

In fact, the cuttings of Cordyline can be divided into two situations. The first is to use the terminal buds for cuttings. When choosing cuttings, you should choose branches with terminal buds, so that the rooting speed will be faster. When cutting cuttings, there is no fixed requirement for the length. Generally, the length can be between 15cm and 30cm.

In addition, Cordyline can also be used for hardwood cuttings, which mainly involves removing the top buds on the branches, and then cutting branches about 10-15cm in length as cuttings for cuttings.

Cutting propagation method of Cordyline

When propagating Cordyceps sinensis cuttings, you can choose soil propagation or water propagation, both of which are relatively simple.

When soil cuttings, insert the branches horizontally into the soil, cover with plastic film, and pay attention to shade. When water-planting, the rooting speed is relatively fast, and you can usually see roots growing within a week.
