How to propagate anemone

How to propagate anemone

Potted propagation method of Anemone

There are two main methods of Anemone propagation: sowing and bulb division.

Seed propagation

Single-petal Anemone varieties are easy to bear fruit. The sowing time is from August to October, and the suitable temperature for sowing is 0 to 20 degrees Celsius. The seeds are small and can be sown immediately after being picked. Because anemone seeds have long hairs, they should be rubbed with sand before sowing in potted plants. Anemone does not have high requirements for soil, the soil in the pot can be loose and flat. After sowing the seeds, cover the surface of the potting soil with a layer of wood ash to protect the seeds. After 15 days, the seeds will germinate and can be applied with light fertilizer and water twice. Anemone likes moisture, is cold-resistant and avoids high temperatures. Therefore, after sowing, it is necessary to ensure a good moist and ventilated indoor environment.

Bulb propagation

Double-petaled Anemone can be divided into bulbs (plants) and transplanted from August to October. After dividing the bulbs, cover the potting soil with 3 cm of soil. It can bloom from April to June. When dividing the bulbs (plants) and planting them, well-drained, fertile and loose soil is required.

Field propagation method of Anemone

Field breeding

Anemone can be propagated and cultivated in the open field. The breeding and cultivation time is usually in late September. Mix 3 parts of garden soil, 1 part each of leaf mold and rice husk ash. When planting, the pointed end of the plant should be facing downwards and not upside down. After planting, water thoroughly and place in a sunny place. When the bulbs have taken root and sprouted 1 to 2 cm, they can be transplanted. Make sure the soil is moist. Remember, you cannot transplant it after planting, otherwise the anemone will grow poorly or die. Pay attention to shading in the early stage of planting. Fertilize after the true leaves grow out, maintain ventilation and increase light. In the middle stage of Anemone growth, a large amount of nutrients need to be supplemented, and calcium fertilizer and potassium fertilizer can be applied. During the growth period of Anemone, proper weeding is required to ensure the quality of Anemone.
