1. Sowing timeThe time for sowing foxglove is usually in spring and autumn. Spring sowing is mostly in March-May, and autumn sowing is in August-September. The climate at this time is relatively warm, and the plants are easier to take root and sprout. If it is summer, high temperature and strong light can easily burn the seedlings, which is not conducive to its development. In winter, the temperature is too low, which affects the growth of the root system. 2. Germination TreatmentIn order to increase the germination rate of foxglove, it can be germinated before sowing. Soak the seeds in 20℃ water for a while to allow them to fully absorb water, which will make it easier for them to take root. In addition, if you want to reduce the chance of disease during the seedling stage, you can soak it in potassium permanganate solution, which can disinfect and sterilize it and prevent various diseases. 3. Land preparation and fertilizationFoxglove is tolerant to drought and barrenness and has low soil requirements, but it grows better in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Before sowing, you need to use decomposed horse manure as base fertilizer, spread it on the soil, and then deep plow and level it to allow the fertilizer to penetrate into it. The soil should be loosened and weeded regularly to prevent weeds from absorbing nutrients and occupying growth space. 4. PlantingSow foxglove seeds on the soil surface and cover with a thin mat to keep warm. It is usually opened once at 10 o'clock in the morning and closed again in the afternoon. After the seedlings have grown 3-5 leaves, they can be transplanted and watered after planting. If sowing in spring, apply fertilizer once in June and the second time in mid-August. |
