Cultivation methods and precautions of daffodils

Narcissus, also known as yellow daffodil, is a very ornamental flower with many colors, including the common yellow, pink and white. Many flower lovers grow daffodils at home to decorate the environment. Let’s talk about the cultivation methods and precautions of daffodils.

1. Soil selection

Soil is very important for the cultivation of daffodils. It prefers slightly acidic sandy loam rich in organic matter. It is recommended to use leaf mold, garden soil, river sand and a small amount of base fertilizer to mix, or you can directly buy special nutrient soil for breeding on the market.

2. Temperature requirements

Daffodils prefer a cool environment and are not resistant to high temperatures. The most suitable temperature is between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. Therefore, during the cultivation process in summer, we need to pay attention to the temperature changes and cool them down in time to ensure better growth of daffodils.

3. Lighting requirements

In the cultivation of daffodils, its demand for light is not high. It only needs to ensure sufficient light during the growing period. Even if its leaves droop due to insufficient light during the growing period, it does not have a big impact on the flowering period. Semi-shade is appropriate during the flowering period.

4. Fertilizer and water requirements

In the cultivation of daffodils, fertilizer and water are crucial. Sufficient water needs to be ensured during the growing period, while water accumulation should be avoided. The amount of watering needs to be reduced during the flowering period, and watering needs to be stopped during the dormant period. As for fertilizer , daffodils do not like fertilizer, so it is sufficient to apply compound fertilizer once every ten days during the flowering period.

5. Cutting

After the flowers fade, you can trim the flower stems but keep the leaves to allow the plant to accumulate nutrients. Do not over-prune to keep the plant healthy.

6. Notes

(1) After planting daffodils, the plants should be moved to a semi-shaded location with about 50% sunlight for maintenance.

(2) After planting, we need to water it thoroughly, making sure to water it thoroughly.

(3) If you purchase bulbs, you can cultivate the bulbs, but they must be disinfected.
