How to propagate mallow through sowing

There are two ways to propagate mallow: division and sowing. Among them, the main method is sowing propagation.

Sowing time

Mallow propagation usually takes place in early spring or late fall. Mallow is usually sown in autumn (early September) or early spring (around late March to late April). Seed propagation is usually used to sow mallow. During sowing, the soil where the mallow grows must be kept moist and ventilated.

Sowing method

The seeds are roasted over fire until the outer shell bursts, allowing moisture to penetrate into the seeds and sprouts to emerge. After sowing the seeds, cover them with one centimeter of soil, while making sure to keep the soil moist. If you want mallow to bloom continuously, you need sufficient nutrition. Phosphorus-based fertilizers should be applied 1-2 times a month. Always cut off diseased branches, weak branches, dead branches, overcrowded branches and dead flowers and stems. To avoid having too many side branches, single-petal plants should also have their long and thin branches cut short. It will also make the mallow bloom more.

Mallow sowing precautions

Soil conditions

Hibiscus is cold-resistant and drought-resistant, has strong adaptability and is not picky about soil. It can be planted in all kinds of soil (sandy soil is the most suitable). When planting, it requires a sunny, ventilated and light-transmitting environment.

Post-sowing care

In winter, the mallow should be placed in a warm place with sufficient light.

In addition, you also need to pay attention to ventilation and keep the indoor temperature at 3-5 degrees Celsius.

Do not water too often. The soil in the pot should be relatively dry, otherwise it will cause root rot.
