Cutting steps:

1. Before taking cuttings, certain preparations must be made. The materials needed are a large Sprite bottle, a roll of scotch tape and a piece of foam board. Cut the Sprite bottle as shown, but do not cut through the edges.

2. Choose young branches of gardenia grown that year, cut the lower end into a bevel shape, leaving the leaves on top, and then fix it on the foam board. The size of the foam board should be cut according to the size of the Sprite bottle.

3. Fill the Sprite bottle with clean water, then place the foam board with the tender branches fixed on it in the bottle, allowing the lower end of the tender branches to be immersed in the water. You can add a little more water at this time so that you don’t have to add more later. Finally, seal the Sprite bottle again with transparent tape and make a toothpick-sized hole at the top of the bottle.

4. Place the bottle where the sun can reach it to keep the temperature higher. At this time, you will see many water droplets appearing on the bottle wall. The more water droplets there are, the faster the gardenia will take root. You don’t have to worry about it after that. Just wait about a week and the roots of the gardenia will grow well.

Jasmine

Cutting steps:

1. Choose one-year-old branches, which must be strong, plump and lignified. Branches that have bloomed can also be used. The branches must be kept free from pests and diseases.

2. Cut the selected branches into cuttings with two nodes as one section. Keep two leaves on the cuttings and cut off the remaining leaves to reduce water evaporation. The lower end of the branches should be cut into a bevel.

3. Soak the lower end of the selected cuttings in the rooting powder solution for 30 minutes, and then insert them into the fine sand.
