Dwarfing method of potted osmanthusWipe the head to clear the budsIn order to control the growth trend of potted osmanthus in spring, when new shoots sprout rapidly and most of the tender shoots have capped and stopped growing, the tender tops of all new shoots can be cut off. For two or three-year-old saplings, 2 or 3 new shoots can be retained in the missing parts of the branches to keep the crown neat. After the top of the tree is destroyed, the nutritional growth points are redistributed. Spring is also a period of rapid branch and root growth, but because all the new shoots are suddenly cut off, the balance between the roots and the crown is broken. Under this stimulation, the potted osmanthus requires a new balance quickly, and then a strong branching force breaks out. Therefore, axillary buds will quickly sprout around the branches where the tops are cut off. These axillary buds will germinate in about 10 days, and the number will be 4-5 times more than before. Long branch bending methodIf the branches of potted osmanthus are of different lengths, when the lower part of the long branches is very empty, you can bend the empty part at the lower part of the long branches to fill the gap, so as to achieve the purpose of dwarfing and beautifying. It is usually done in the afternoon in late autumn, and water control is required before doing so. Insert a small wooden stick next to the thinner branches, and tie the part to be bent to the small wooden stick. If the branches to be bent are thick and hard, twist the part to be bent several times to soften it. If the branches are easily broken when bent at once, two bamboo poles can be inserted into the bending position. One bamboo pole should be close to the branch and tied with a thin hemp rope, and another bamboo pole should be inserted in the position where the branch needs to be bent, and also tied with a thin hemp rope. In addition, the winding form of the bend can be slightly changed to avoid being dull. When bending branches, be sure to keep them coordinated with other branches. Then use thin hemp rope to tie all the bent places firmly. The bamboo poles must be inserted firmly to avoid falling over or being pulled out. In the spring of the second year, the newly grown branches should be slightly pruned and adjusted, and the hemp ropes tied to them should be removed. At this time, the bent branches are dead and will no longer be deformed. |
