When can wintersweet be sown?

Can the seeds be planted?

First of all, we need to know whether wintersweet flowers can be sown. Of course it can be sown, but it should be noted that the wintersweet flowers grown from the seeds are not hereditary, and sowing and propagation requires a long time and energy, so it is best to choose asexual propagation methods such as grafting and cuttings when propagating.

When to sow

The time for sowing wintersweet flowers actually mainly exists in two seasons, which are spring and autumn. Both seasons are good times for sowing.

When sowing wintersweet flowers in spring, it is usually done in February to March, and the seedlings will emerge in April. When sowing in spring, germination is required so that the seeds can germinate normally. Soak the wintersweet seeds in warm water. It usually takes 24 hours to germinate and then sow them in sandy soil. They will usually sprout in 15-20 days.

The time to sow wintersweet flowers in autumn is usually in July or August. After the fruits of the wintersweet are ripe, the seeds are harvested for sowing. After harvesting the ripe fruits of the wintersweet, take out the seeds, dry them and you can sow them at any time. Because the seeds are newly harvested, they are relatively fresh and more active, so they can be sown at any time. Generally, seedlings will emerge more than 10 days after sowing. The survival rate is relatively high if wintersweet flowers are sown in autumn.
