Her longevity flower blooms for half a year, what is the secret?

Her longevity flower blooms for half a year, what is the secret?

1. Management during flowering period

Less sun during flowering period

Light will accelerate the photosynthesis of Kalanchoe and promote its metabolism, thereby reducing the flowering time.

But this does not mean that the Kalanchoe cannot be exposed to the sun. The sunlight in the morning and evening is relatively weak, so the Kalanchoe can be exposed to the sun during these two time periods. Alternatively, place the Kalanchoe indoors in bright light.

Ventilation during flowering

Ventilation is an issue that is easily overlooked. Long-term stays in an unventilated environment will not only affect the growth rate of the plant, but in severe cases it will cause the Kalanchoe to be infected with bacteria.

Therefore, in winter, you can open the windows at noon to ventilate and promote air circulation between indoor and outdoor areas.

Prune dead flowers in time

After the flowers bloom, cut off the remaining flowers in time. If they are not cut off, the remaining flowers will continue to absorb nutrients from the Kalanchoe and prepare for subsequent fruiting. This causes other flowers to wither quickly.

Therefore, the withered flowers must be cut off, and when cutting, both the flowers and the flower arrows should be cut off together to be more thorough. For example, in the picture above, Huahua marked several places.

2. Management after flowering

Fertilization is needed after flowering

After the Kalanchoe flowers bloom, fertilize them in time. Fertilizers generally choose compound fertilizers, which can replenish the nutrients consumed by Kalanchoe during flowering.

After that, you can apply a thin compound liquid fertilizer every 15 to 20 days. After the flower buds form again, apply 1 to 2 times more 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 0.5% superphosphate, so that there will be more flowers, brighter colors, and a longer flowering period.

More sun after flowering

Please note, what Huahua is saying here is that after the flowers have withered, more sun exposure can speed up the plant's photosynthesis, make the Kalanchoe grow more vigorously, and promote flowering.

Watering after flowering

Strictly speaking, the Kalanchoe should be watered more during its growth period and less during its flowering period in order to extend its flowering period.

Maintaining Temperature

(Source: Osmanthus Bar)

The suitable temperature for the growth of Kalanchoe is 15~25℃, and the temperature should not be lower than 10℃. If the temperature is as low as 6~8℃, the leaves will turn red and flowering will be delayed, so the temperature must be guaranteed!

Promote flower bud differentiation

Conditions for flower bud differentiation: temperature 20℃, sunshine 8 hours.

After the flower buds are formed, just maintain them normally. Note that the temperature should not be too low. Water when the plants are dry and wet. Expose them to more sunlight and move them to a bright place indoors after they bloom.
