How to plant honeysuckle seeds

Preparation for sowing

Honeysuckle needs preparation before sowing.

Seed picking

The fruits of honeysuckle are usually picked in January, and the picked fruits usually need to be left for 5 to 7 days to mature. The picked fruits need to be processed. Wash them in clean water to remove the peel and pulp, then place them in a cool place to dry, being careful not to expose them to the sun. Select seeds of better quality and store them.

Seed treatment

When sowing, the seeds need to be processed in advance. Soak the honeysuckle seeds in warm water at about 40℃ for 1 day, then mix them into moist sand, cover them with plastic film, and place them in a relatively warm place for germination.

The time for sowing honeysuckle is mainly in spring, early March.

Sowing method

seedbed

When sowing honeysuckle, it is best to prepare a seedbed, put an appropriate amount of soil, and then add base fertilizer, fungicides, insecticides, etc. to prevent diseases and pests.

sowing

When sowing honeysuckle, it is mainly broadcast. First, water the seedbed thoroughly, then mix the honeysuckle seeds with sand and sow them. After sowing, cover the seedbed with about 5mm of sand, and it is best to cover it with straw mats.

Post-sowing treatment

After sowing honeysuckle, the main thing is to keep the seedbed moist, because moisture will affect the germination rate of honeysuckle. It is best to spray water once every morning or evening. When the seedlings emerge from the soil, remove the covering and water them frequently. Apply nitrogen fertilizer according to the growth of seedlings.

When the honeysuckle seedlings grow to about 15 cm, you can pinch them off. Do this 2-3 times.
