How to make a bonsai of Cliff Chrysanthemum

When making cliff chrysanthemum bonsai, the first thing to do is to choose suitable flowers. Generally, single-petal varieties of chrysanthemums are selected, which are required to have many branches, soft branches, and dense flowers.

In November, select suitable foot buds, plant them in a flowerpot with a diameter of about 50 cm, place it indoors, and maintain sufficient light. And the soil needs to be kept moist.

When chrysanthemums are growing, be careful not to pinch the tips, and strengthen the management of water and fertilizer, allowing them to grow. By March of the following year, you can move it outdoors and remove it from the pot. It is best to plant it in the open air, so that it will grow better. For potted plants, it is best to plant them in a pot with a diameter of 45 cm.

After planting the chrysanthemums, you can use bamboo poles to make a rack, making sure the base is high, the top is low, and the base is wide and the top is narrow. The shelf should be about 2 meters long and half a meter wide.

Bend the chrysanthemum branches at 20 cm and tie them to the bamboo pole with brown silk. Tie them once every 10 cm of growth. In this way, the chrysanthemum branches will extend in a horizontal plane along the bamboo pole.

When the side branches of the chrysanthemum grow out, select two side branches that are relatively strong and tie them up like the main branches, but do not pinch the top. Other branches can be pinched off, leaving appropriate leaves. When new side branches grow on the side branches, they should also be pinched to encourage more branches.

Before September, you should continue to pinch the tops until the shape is fixed in September.

After that, you should pay attention to strengthening water and fertilizer management. After the flower buds are formed, stop fertilizing and remove the support so that the plant can droop naturally. Just wait and enjoy the flowers.
