Yellow bone fish, also known as yellow catfish and yellow croaker, is a common freshwater fish. It is famous for its tender meat, delicious taste and rich nutrition. It has high economic value. So how to breed yellow bone fish? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Pond selection Choose a place with convenient transportation, close to a water source, sufficient water, convenient drainage and irrigation, and no pollution sources around to build the pond. The size of the pond is customized according to the needs of the farmers, and the pond bottom is required to be flat and the soil should be clay loam. In addition, equipping the pond with oxygen equipment will be beneficial to the growth rate of yellow croaker. 2. Select seedlings and stock them Choose healthy, disease-free, uniformly sized seedlings, generally 3-5 cm in size. When releasing the fish, choose a sunny night with no wind and no waves. The density will be determined based on the technology and conditions, usually 150,000 to 300,000 fish per mu. Please note that before stocking the seedlings, the pond must be cleaned and disinfected. 3. Feeding Yellow catfish likes to eat animal baits, such as small fish, shrimps, snail meat , etc. It can also be fed with special yellow catfish feed . Feed should be fresh, uncontaminated, and fed regularly and in fixed quantities. In addition, the feeding table should be cleaned and disinfected regularly, and medicated bait should be fed continuously for 2-3 days every 10-15 days. 4. Water quality management Yellow catfish is less tolerant to low oxygen than conventional fish and prefers clean water. Therefore, the water transparency of ponds for breeding yellow catfish should be maintained at 35-40 cm. Ponds with high stocking density should be equipped with aerators to prevent floating due to lack of oxygen. In addition, the water in the yellow catfish pond should not be too alkaline. The pH value of the pond water can be adjusted between 7.0-8.4 through the reasonable use of drugs. The medicine can generally be quicklime, which should be used once every half a month or so, with each dosage of 15-25 kg/mu. 5. Daily management Patrol the pond frequently and observe the fish's behavior. The pond should be inspected three times a day, morning, noon and evening. At dawn, observe whether the fish in the pond float to the surface. During the day, you can combine feeding and measuring water temperature to check the activity and feeding of the fish in the pond. Near dusk, check the fish's feeding habits throughout the day to see if there is any leftover feed or any signs of floating. 6. Pest and disease control Pay attention to the prevention and treatment of parasites, ascites, bubble disease and other problems. For parasitic diseases, specific drugs are used for prevention and treatment, and special iodine is used for disinfection after insecticide. Ascites can be prevented and treated by oral and topical methods. Bubble disease can be treated by aerating the air and splashing with saline water. In general, although yellow croaker is a good project for rural wealth creation, it is also an industry that requires high technical and management skills. Therefore, if farmers want to profit from it, they must master the relevant breeding methods and techniques.
