How to grow lucky bamboo so that it is fresh, crisp, juicey, lush and leafy, bringing you wealth and good luck!

1. Soil culture

Generally speaking, lucky bamboo grown in soil is more stable, and it is not as easy to grow in water as in soil, so soil cultivation will generally grow more vigorously than water cultivation. Flower lovers who have the conditions can choose soil cultivation, which is easier to grow.

Select pot

When choosing flower pots, it is best to choose earthenware pots, which have good air permeability and water permeability. The second best is purple clay pots, and plastic pots are the least recommended.

Soil selection

Loose and fertile sandy soil is the best. You can mix fine sand, garden soil and leaf mold in a ratio of 1:4:5. Adding some crushed eggshells to the bottom of the pot can not only serve as fertilizer, but also help the soil to permeate water and breathe.

Entering the pelvis

Cut off all the roots of the lucky bamboo and the leaves that are buried in the soil. Apply some wood ash or sulfur powder to disinfect the cut surface, insert it directly into the soil in the pot, and place it in a cool place.

The first time you water, you need to water it thoroughly. After that, you can spray water around the lucky bamboo to maintain humidity. After the new leaves grow out, the lucky bamboo can be moved to a place with scattered light indoors.

Repotting

It is best to repot lucky bamboo every three years or so. The roots can be cut off, new soil can be added, and the plant can be repotted to take root.

2. Pruning

Root cutting and bottle changing

After hydroponic lucky bamboo has been grown in water for two to three years, if it does not grow vigorously and its root system is tangled and fills the culture bottle, you can consider changing the bottle and growing it again.

Cut off all the yellow leaves of lucky bamboo, cut the roots at 45 degrees, do not retain the original root system, and reinsert it into clean water to take root.

Please note that you cannot change the bottle of lucky bamboo at any time. The temperature is relatively high from April to September, which is the most suitable time to change the bottle. If you change the bottle in winter, you must pay attention to maintaining the temperature.

Cut buds

As lucky bamboo grows, it will grow many new buds. In order to ensure the nutrients of the entire plant, flower lovers should not feel sorry but should cut off the small buds at the bottom in time and leave the top leaf buds to continue growing.

3 Humidity

Lucky bamboo likes a warm and humid environment. Flower lovers can sprinkle water around the lucky bamboo to increase the air humidity and scrub the leaves frequently.

Be careful not to place lucky bamboo near air conditioners, computers, televisions, or refrigerators, especially not near air inlets and outlets. The wind will cause the air to be dry, which can easily cause the leaves of the lucky bamboo to dry out and turn yellow.

Flower lovers can pay attention to the color of the leaves of lucky bamboo. If the leaves are dry and yellow, it may be due to sunburn or lack of water. If the leaves are tender yellow, it is likely due to lack of light or root rot.

4 Bottle containers

It is best to choose a tall container. Shallow pots are not suitable for hydroponics because the plants need to be fixed to take root.

It is better to choose a transparent container so that it is easier to observe the growth of the lucky bamboo roots.

Water Quality

It is best to use purified water or cold boiled water to grow lucky bamboo hydroponically. Do not use tap water directly. If conditions require tap water, flower lovers should first place the tap water in the sun and let it sit for about 3 days.

When adding water to the bottle, just add it until it is 1/3 full.

Bottle

When putting the lucky bamboo into the vase, be sure to cut the roots obliquely and make the blade smooth, leaving no roots or leaves, so that it is easier to take root.

During the rooting period, change the water every three days or so, and try not to move the bottle otherwise.

If everything goes well, the lucky bamboo will take root in about half a month. After rooting, do not change the water for the time being. Give the lucky bamboo about ten days to adapt, and be sure to add water in time.

Water changes

If the water in the bottle is turbid, the roots of the lucky bamboo will rot quickly and the leaves will turn yellow.

Therefore, you should change the water of lucky bamboo every ten days or so under normal circumstances, and every five days in summer. When changing the water, pay attention to the condition of the roots of the lucky bamboo. The rotten parts should be removed and cleaned.

5. Sunshine

Lucky bamboo likes scattered light. Direct sunlight can easily cause the leaves to dry and turn yellow. If there is no sunlight for a long time, the leaves will become dull.

For normal maintenance, it is best to place the lucky bamboo near the east or north wall of the room where there is bright diffuse light. Such light is bright but not direct, which is conducive to growth. 6. Fertilization

Fertilization

Apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to soil-grown lucky bamboo about once every 20 days. Reduce the frequency of fertilization in winter to once every 2-3 months.

For hydroponic lucky bamboo, you can add nutrient solution to the water, about 5 or 6 drops of nutrient solution to 500 ml of water, once a month. In summer, be careful not to add nutrient solution to the lucky bamboo water to avoid root rot.

You can add ferrous sulfate solution to the lucky bamboo hydroponic bottle. The solution must be diluted with more water. One or two drops are enough when adding it to the bottle. Supplement iron for the plant to prevent yellowing leaves.

If too much fertilizer is applied, the new leaves will become dry brown, uneven, and dull, and the old leaves will turn yellow and fall off. At this time, you need to change the water in time and cut off the yellow leaves and rotten roots.

If insufficient fertilizer is applied, the new leaves will be light in color, light green or even light yellow. At this time, you can drop 5 drops of nutrient solution into the water.

7 Temperature

The best growth temperature for lucky bamboo is 18℃-25℃. Do not place it in low temperature places such as balconies and windowsills in winter. The water in the bottle of hydroponic lucky bamboo must not freeze. Flower lovers whose homes are too cold should pay attention to bagging for insulation.

If lucky bamboo is unfortunately affected by cold, if the stem is green, it means the plant still has vitality and may sprout new buds in the spring of next year. At this time, you should cut off the stem, remove the yellow leaves, and put it back into the vase.

8. Placement

In Feng Shui, there are certain techniques to use lucky bamboo to attract wealth.

Placing lucky bamboo in the southeast direction of your home will help attract wealth.

Placing lucky bamboo in the kitchen, bathroom and other places can help to dispel evil spirits.

Placing lucky bamboo under beams and next to columns can help resolve the beam-column shape evil.

Placing lucky bamboo and hanging it near the front door will help to bring good fortune to your family.

The leaves of the newly bought lucky bamboo are turning yellow.

Don't worry too much, flower lovers.

This is because the new lucky bamboo has not yet grown roots.

If the leaves cannot get enough nutrients, they will naturally turn yellow.

Flower lovers, please wait patiently for about a month.

The situation will improve after the lucky bamboo takes root.

Flower lovers, please pay attention to cut off the yellow leaves in time!
