How to repot Pyracantha

Time to repot Pyracantha

The time to repot Pyracantha is determined according to the flower pot. If it is a larger Pyracantha bonsai, the pot will be larger and deeper, so repotting is generally done about once every two years. If it is a smaller Pyracantha bonsai with a small and shallow flowerpot, it will need to be repotted once a year.

The time to repot Pyracantha is usually from late February to before Qingming Festival.

How to repot Pyracantha

When repotting Pyracantha, you can choose a pot with a suitable size and diameter. The material can be a clay pot, a ceramic pot, or a plastic pot. As for the soil, you can prepare nutrient soil yourself. Mix garden soil, sandy soil and a little compound fertilizer to make a matrix. When potting, in addition to putting the matrix in, you can also add broken tiles at the bottom of the pot.

Take out the Pyracantha plant, remove the old roots and soil, and then plant it in a pot. When potting, place a few broken tiles in the pot, then cover it with a layer of coarse sand and put in the prepared substrate. Spread out the roots of Pyracantha, place them in the soil, and fill them with soil. Make sure the soil is even and compacted, and don't fill it too full.

After re-potting the Pyracantha, you must first water it sufficiently and place it in a cool place for about 10 days, after which you can manage it normally.

Precautions for repotting Pyracantha

When repotting Pyracantha, be careful not to remove all the soil, and keep some soil at the roots. If you need to prune the roots, be careful not to prune the main roots. You can prune excess roots, or you can cut off old leaves and weaker branches.

After repotting the Pyracantha, be careful not to move the pot frequently to avoid affecting the growth of the plant. After a period of maintenance, the soil in the pot sinks and you can add some soil.
