How to propagate peace tree

How to propagate peace tree

Prepare

Cutting time

The peace lily can be propagated by cuttings in spring or autumn, usually in April, May, September and October. The temperature at this time can be maintained between 22℃ and 28℃, which is more suitable for the propagation of peace lily.

Cutting medium

When taking cuttings of the peace lily, flower pots or nutrient pots are usually chosen as the cutting container, and the substrate can usually be configured by yourself. Mix vermiculite and peat as the substrate for cuttings. Before taking cuttings, disinfection is required.

method

Cuttings

When taking cuttings of the peace lily, you need to choose suitable cuttings. Remove the strong branches of the peace lily that were grown in the current year and have become semi-woody, and the leaves should be bright in color.

The removed cuttings can be cut into strips of about 15 cm. Generally, 2-3 leaves are retained and the rest are cut off. The bottom of the cuttings should be cut into an inclined surface.

Cuttings

Before grafting the peace lily, you can soak the cuttings in a rooting powder solution and then proceed with the grafting. When cutting, be careful not to dig too deep or too shallow, and press lightly with your fingers. Generally, one cutting is enough in a nutrient pot. After cutting, water it thoroughly, then cover it with a plastic bag and place it in a cool place for maintenance.

Maintenance

After the peace lily is grafted, the cutting medium needs to be kept moist. It can be watered once every 4 days to maintain a high humidity. After about 20 days of growth, the plastic bag can be removed.

After the peace holly is cut, it will take root in about a month and can be transplanted. Transplant the seedlings and the substrate into a slightly larger pot, and then carry out normal maintenance.
