Four seasons maintenance of Pteris

Four seasons maintenance of Pteris

Summer of Pteris spheniscus

In summer, what you need to pay attention to when caring for the phoenix fern is watering, light and temperature.

Summer is a season of high temperature and strong light. The evaporation of water is large and the air is relatively dry, so watering needs to be more frequent and spraying water every day to ensure a high air humidity.

The light in summer is very strong, and direct strong light can burn the leaves of the fern, causing them to curl and become scorched. In the summer, you need to pay attention to shading in time to avoid burning the fern plants, which will lose their green color and no longer be beautiful.

In terms of temperature, the fern needs to be cooled in summer. Spraying water and increasing ventilation are relatively simple ways to cool it down.

Wintering of Pteris fasciata

In winter, what the pteris fern needs to pay attention to is keeping warm.

The temperature is low in winter, and being too cold can cause frostbite on the fern plants and cause their leaves to turn yellow. At the same time, because the temperature is too low, you should also control watering to prevent the soil in the pot from being too moist and causing root rot. Therefore, in winter, if conditions permit, you can create some heating facilities for the living environment of the phoenix fern, such as placing it indoors or in a greenhouse, building a heat preservation shed, etc., to ensure a suitable temperature.

The light hours in winter are shorter and the intensity is not strong, so the phoenix fern can receive a small amount of direct sunlight.

Spring and Autumn Care of Pteris

In spring and autumn, the soil in the pot of the phoenix fern needs to be kept moist. Watering can be based on the growth conditions of the phoenix fern, but there must be sufficient water and fertilizer.

The temperature and light in spring and autumn are more suitable for the growth of phoenix ferns, but care should be taken to maintain them according to specific weather conditions.
