How to propagate peace tree through sowing

Sowing preparation

The peace lily can be propagated by seed. You can pick the ripe fruits, take out the seeds and sow them. The main method of seed propagation for peace lily is autumn sowing, and generally in South China it can be sown in September.

When propagating by sowing, the best method is to sow immediately after harvesting, but if weather conditions do not permit, the seeds need to be stored, usually in sand. Peel the fruit, dry it in a cool place, and then store it in moist sand. Be careful not to let the seeds get moldy.

Before sowing, the seeds are taken out and need to be germinated until the seeds crack and turn white before sowing. Soaking in warm water can increase the germination rate.

Seed propagation method

The seed propagation of peace holly is generally based on spot sowing. The seeds of peace holly are sown on the sand bed by spot sowing. Generally, the plant spacing is about 5 cm, and the seeds can be covered with about 1-2 cm of soil.

Cover the sand bed where the peace elm has been sown with moist straw. Make sure the seedbed remains moist. Generally, the seeds will germinate in about 20 to 30 days. As the seedlings grow, the peace lily will gradually grow leaves. When it grows more than 5 or 6 true leaves, it needs to be transplanted in time.

Sowing and maintenance

After the peace lily seedlings emerge from the soil, the covering straw can be removed one by one, but because the seedlings are relatively fragile, they need to be shaded in time.

Generally, seedlings need sufficient water and nutrients when they are growing. It is important to keep the soil moist at all times. If you want to fertilize, you can apply liquid fertilizer once a month. Pay attention to keep warm in winter when the temperature is relatively low.
