Snakehead carp, scientifically known as Channa ulex, is a nutritious fish with delicious meat. It is known as the "treasure among fish" for its nourishing and conditioning benefits. With the growth of market demand, snakehead fish farming has become a potential investment project. The following are the methods and techniques for breeding black fish. 1. Selection of breeding pond Choose a location to build the pond that is far away from residential areas, well ventilated and sunny, with sufficient water resources and convenient drainage and irrigation. The recommended area of the fish pond is 3 mu, and the maximum should not exceed 5 mu, and the water depth should be maintained at 1.5 to 2 meters. The pond bottom should be flat and with little silt. Aquatic plants can be planted around it, and escape prevention nets should be installed at the inlet and outlet. A newly built fish pond needs to be soaked for more than three months before it can be put into use. 2. Fish pond disinfection and cleaning Half a month before stocking, use quicklime to thoroughly clean and disinfect the pond. Drain the pond, sprinkle 130-150 kg of quicklime mixed with water per acre, and stir up the silt. After 3 days, inject new water to a depth of 1 meter, and after a week, test the water and put in the fish. 3. Fish stocking Choose healthy, current year fish that are 10-14 cm and 60-100 g. Before putting them into the pond, bathe them in 3-5% salt water for 10 minutes and release 7,000 to 8,000 fish per acre. If conditions permit, the stocking density can be appropriately increased. 4. Feeding Snakehead carp is a carnivorous fish that mainly feeds on fresh small fish and shrimp. In the initial stage, feed live bait for acclimatization, and gradually transition to feeding dead bait. Feed once every day at 9 am and 4 pm, and the daily feed amount is 5-10% of the fish body weight. Artificial compound bait can be used, and attention should be paid to feeding at a fixed time, location, quality and quantity. 5. Daily management In summer, change 1/3 of the water every 7 days, and sprinkle quicklime water every 30 days to improve the water quality. Snakehead carp has strong disease resistance, but we still need to pay attention to prevention, prevent it before it gets sick, and treat it early if it gets sick. Use chlorine dioxide, enrofloxacin and other drugs for treatment. 6. Catch the big ones and keep the small ones to market them in time Snakehead carp are ferocious and may kill each other, so they need to be regularly caught and kept, and fed in separate ponds. According to market conditions, sell adult fish in a timely manner to obtain good profits. In summary, through the application of the above breeding techniques, the success rate and economic benefits of black carp breeding can be effectively improved, and the market demand for high-quality black carp can be met.
