How to sow desert rose

How to sow desert rose

1. Sowing time

Desert rose is a drought-resistant plant, so the best time for sowing is in spring and summer when the climate is stable and the temperature is relatively high. The temperature is too low in autumn and winter, and even if the seeds of desert rose will germinate, the survival rate is very low. So try to sow in spring and summer.

2. Sowing Method

1. Cultivation base

The cultivation base of its seeds has relatively high requirements for looseness and moisture. When preparing the soil, it is best to mix some expanded clay into it to increase the looseness of the soil and make it more breathable. After the soil is prepared, mix it with water before sowing, until the soil is moist and the color is slightly darker.

2. Planting

When sowing seeds, they need to be spread flat on the culture medium without deep burying. There should be no more than ten seeds in ten square centimeters of culture medium, because too many seeds will limit the growth space and the seedlings will not develop well. After the seeds are spread out, sprinkle a layer of fine soil evenly on them. After completing the above work, water them thoroughly and wait for them to germinate.

3. Post-sowing care

After sowing, the cultivation tray should be placed in a bright and well-ventilated place. A south-facing window is most suitable. Also be careful not to expose it to direct sunlight. Keep its growth environment temperature at around 21 degrees.

4. Thinning

After the seeds germinate and grow into seedlings, pull out the unhealthy seedlings that are growing poorly to leave growth space and nutrients for the healthy seedlings. After it grows four tender leaves, it can be transplanted into a potted plant.
