How to plant jasmine seeds

How to plant jasmine seeds

Seed Identification

seed

Everyone, please look carefully ~ The seeds are black, look very smooth and round. They are small dark purple balls like black pearls. These are the seeds of real jasmine. It is relatively easy to produce seeds in Guangzhou and its southern areas in my country, and can be used for sowing.

Mirabilis jalapa seeds

The seeds in the picture below are the seeds of the common Mirabilis jalapa that people often deceive. Mirabilis jalapa is not jasmine. It is a plant of the Oleaceae family, while Mirabilis jalapa is a plant of the Mirabilis family. They are completely different. Mirabilis jalapa is also called the landmine flower. Its seeds look like a small landmine, which is enough to tell the origin of the name of this flower.

So when you buy seeds on Taobao, you must be careful. There is a high possibility that you bought the seeds of the landmine flower.

Seed storage

Jasmine seeds can be stored in low temperature, dry and airtight conditions.

Generally, it can be maintained for 1 to 2 years, but not too long. If it is too long, I don’t know if I can reproduce jasmine.

Seed Planting

Prepare

First, prepare a breeding tray with loose and breathable soil.

Soak the seeds in warm water for several hours until the hard shell breaks.

sowing

Then take out the seeds and sow them in the breeding tray.

After sowing the seeds, cover the surface with a layer of loose soil 0.5 to 1 cm thick.

Watering & Ventilation

Spray it with a spray bottle and cover the surface with a layer of plastic cloth to keep it moist and warm. If the temperature is controlled at around 20 degrees, germination will be faster. During the day, you can lift the plastic sheet for a while to ventilate and keep the soil moist, but don't water it too much, as it will rot the seeds.

Then just wait quietly for the jasmine to bloom. However, due to the rarity of jasmine seeds and the high technical requirements for sowing and propagation, most of them are propagated by cuttings.
