Grafting and cutting of night-blooming primrose

Grafting method of night-blooming primrose

For grafting of night-blooming jasmine, we usually choose the approach grafting method. Plants that can be used as rootstocks include purple magnolia, zhennan, magnolia, etc.

Now we use the annual potted yellow orchid as the rootstock. During the rainy season, we select the scion from the mother plant, align the cambium layers of both sides of the cut, and tie it tightly with plastic film strips.

Use a bamboo pole to support the potted rootstock. After about 2-3 months, when the interface between the two has healed and survived, you can cut it off from the bottom of the scion!

Night primrose cutting method

In recent years, people often use cuttings to propagate night-blooming jasmine.

First, we need to choose one-year to two-year-old seedlings. And prepare the substrate for cuttings. The substrate should be clean. Vermiculite, perlite, plain sandy soil, peat soil, etc. are all acceptable. Note that the substrate for cuttings should not be too thick, otherwise the substrate temperature will not melt and rise during cuttings, affecting the rooting of the cuttings.

Then, after confirming that the seedlings are young, you need to cut the ears. Note that when cutting, the cut needs to be cut into an inclined surface, because this can increase the area for absorbing water. Also pay attention to leaving a few leaves, because the plant needs to carry out photosynthesis to produce organic matter.

Next, place the branches in a dry place, wait for the cut to dry, and then you can proceed to the next step!

Finally, when grafting, insert the cuttings into the medium in which the night-blooming jasmine grows. Be careful not to turn them upside down, otherwise they will not germinate!

Then, just wait quietly for it to take root and sprout! According to recent data, the survival rate of cuttings is 90%!
