What to do if the tips of orchid leaves turn black

What to do if the tips of orchid leaves turn black

1. Adjust the temperature

Reason: Orchids are not cold-resistant. If attacked by low temperatures, their roots and branches will stop working and the tips of their leaves will turn black.

Solution: Move it to a warm place in winter to avoid frostbite. Don't rush to move it out in spring, because the temperature in early spring is unstable and there are often cold currents. Wait until the temperature is completely stable before moving it outdoors.

2. Proper shade

Reason: It does not like strong light. If it is directly exposed to strong sunlight, the tip of the leaves will turn black.

Solution: It needs to be exposed to diffuse light, and it needs to be properly shaded when the sun is strong at noon. The daylight hours are shorter in winter and the sun is not as strong, so there is no need to provide shade, and the plant can receive full-day sunshine.

3. Reasonable watering

Reason: Orchids are not tolerant to waterlogging. Too much watering will easily cause waterlogging in the soil, which will affect the breathing of the roots and cause the tips of the leaves to turn black.

Solution: Do not water too much. Water once a day when the temperature is high and once every two days when the temperature is low.

4. Reduce fertilization

Reason: Orchids do not like concentrated fertilizers, which can easily burn the roots and cause health problems, and the leaf tips will turn black.

Solution: Apply light fertilizer and keep it about ten centimeters away from the roots to avoid burning the roots. When watering, pour the water on the fertilizer, let the water spread with the fertilizer to facilitate its absorption.
