Watering and fertilizing techniques for double-line arrowroot

Watering and fertilizing techniques for double-line arrowroot

Watering Tips

time

Generally water three times a day, once in the morning, noon and evening.

method

March to October every year is the peak growth period of the double-line arrowroot. The most suitable relative humidity for its growth is 75%-85%. Higher air humidity is extremely beneficial to its leaf growth, so it needs to be watered frequently.

Water 3-4 times a day in summer. It is best to spray the leaves in the morning, water the soil surface at noon or afternoon, water the whole plant in the evening, and spray the leaves frequently.

In autumn and winter, the growth rate of the double-line arrowroot slows down, and the amount of watering should be gradually reduced. Depending on the weather conditions, you can choose to water it once a day or once every 2 or 3 days.

Precautions

When the new leaves of the double-line arrowroot grow, if it is too dry, the edges of the leaves will curl up and become deformed in the future, seriously affecting the ornamental effect, so be sure to pay attention to watering. Watering in summer should also be moderate, following the principle of "small amounts and multiple times". The soil should not be too sticky or too wet, otherwise the roots will easily rot and suffer from diseases. When the temperature is low, keep the soil dry to prevent the double-line arrowroot from being frostbitten.

Fertilization tips

time

It is generally more effective to apply top dressing in the morning before the dew dries or in the evening. Normally, spray fertilizer once a week. Stop after three consecutive sprays and then continue spraying.

method

Fertilizers should be mainly nitrogen fertilizers, followed by phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Pay attention to "frequent and light application". Apply a mixture of peanut bran and compound fertilizer or decomposed compost once every 2 weeks during the peak growth period.

A 0.1% solution can be prepared with urea containing 46% nitrogen, and a 0.2% solution can be prepared with potassium dihydrogen phosphate containing more than 50% phosphorus and more than 30% potassium as foliar fertilizer. When spraying, it is best to use a fine-hole sprayer and spray on both sides of the leaves.

Precautions

Double-line arrowroot is a foliage plant. If an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer is applied, the leaves will become more shiny and the color will be brighter. The concentration of fertilizer should not be too high, otherwise it will cause leaf burns, and in severe cases the plant will die. When the plant enters dormancy in winter or when the temperature is too high in summer, stop fertilizing.
