How to propagate summer pansy

How to propagate summer pansy

Seed propagation

The sowing propagation of summer pansy is generally in spring, and it can also be carried out in autumn in some places. There are two main time periods for spring sowing, namely late March to early April, and late June to early July.

The seeds of summer pansy are small, so some fine sand can be mixed in when sowing. After sowing summer violets, there is no need to cover them with soil. You can cover them with plastic film to keep them moist. In order to increase the germination rate of summer pansy and obtain more seedlings, box sowing or ridge sowing can be carried out. After sowing, lightly press the soil evenly and water it using the immersion method.

During the germination period of summer pansy seeds, the temperature should be kept between 20~30℃, and the seeds will germinate in about 10 to 15 days. After the seedlings emerge, let them grow slowly. When they grow 5 leaves or the plant is up to 10 cm tall, they can be transplanted. Choose a sunny place for maintenance and apply organic fertilizer as base fertilizer, and then apply fertilizer once or twice.

It should be noted that after transplanting in summer, it should be placed in a well-lit and ventilated place to avoid rain. In summer, a shade net should be used for shade.

Cutting propagation

The cutting propagation of summer violet is relatively simple, easy to operate, and relatively fast.

The cutting propagation of summer violets is generally carried out in summer, between May and August. When taking cuttings, choose branches that are vigorous, thick and healthy. You can prune them appropriately, remove most of the leaves, and insert them into the prepared soil. The soil must be breathable sandy soil.

The summer pansy that has been propagated by cuttings will take root quickly, usually in 3 to 5 days. Before taking root, it is necessary to provide appropriate shade. After taking root, the plant can be allowed to gradually receive sunlight and grow rapidly. The summer pansy propagated by cuttings grows very quickly.
