When is the best time to plant lilies?

The suitable temperature for lily growth is 15 to 25 degrees, so it can be planted when the temperature is above 15 degrees. Generally, spring and autumn are very suitable. If planted in pots, you can plant them in spring. In February and March every spring, the temperature is suitable and the lilies will bloom soon after sprouting.

How to plant lilies

1. Choose a flower pot

Lilies do not have too many requirements for flower pots, but they are more suitable for deeper tube pots. A pot with a tube depth of 12 to 15 cm is suitable for planting one lily bulb, while a pot with a tube depth of 15 to 18 cm can plant 3 lily bulbs.

2. Suitable soil

Lilies prefer to grow in loose, fertile, humus-rich, well-drained sandy soil, neutral soil or slightly acidic soil. When mixing the soil, you can mix culture soil, leaf mold, and coarse sand.

3. Bulb treatment

Soak the lily bulbs in the carbendazim solution for 30 minutes. Place some broken tiles at the bottom of the flowerpot and add the prepared soil. After the pot is filled with soil, dig a hole in the middle, put the lily bulbs in, bury them and water them thoroughly.

4. Daily management

After the lily grows normally, you can move it to the sun. Lily likes warm sunshine and can tolerate a semi-sheltered environment. It is most afraid of direct sunlight in summer, so it needs to be shaded in summer, generally in a semi-shaded environment.

Lilies like a humid environment, so during the growing season, the soil in the pot needs to be kept moist, and as the lilies grow, more watering is needed. Lilies need sufficient water during their vigorous growth period, budding period, bud formation period, and flowering period. After lilies are cultivated and grow vigorously, you can apply compound fertilizers with less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potassium to them, or you can use decomposed cake fertilizer water and other organic fertilizers . Generally, you can apply fertilizer once every 15 to 20 days. Fertilization needs to follow the principle of applying thin fertilizers frequently.
