How often to fertilize

There is no clear answer to this question. Everyone's maintenance environment and growth conditions are different, so the fertilization cycle is also different. But you should know that most plants bloom twice a year, once in early July and again in early August. They need nutrients when blooming, and fertilizer is of utmost importance.

Regardless of the length of time for fertilization, as long as you adhere to the principle of applying thin fertilizers frequently, maintain healthy growth, and avoid root burn, this method of fertilization is the most effective.

Fertilization method of Jianlan

During the growth process of Jianlan, there are four very important fertilizations. Other fertilizers can be saved, but these four must not be missed.

Germination fertilizer: It is usually carried out in late spring and early summer. First use granular fertilizer 1 to 2 times, and apply fertilizer outside the roots (a little away from the roots), mainly nitrogen and potassium fertilizers, which can promote the growth of stems and leaves above the ground and promote the growth of underground rhizomes. Only when the rhizomes are strong can they provide a steady supply of nutrients to the stems and leaves.

Germination fertilizer: In late summer and early autumn, the new buds have grown leaves. In order to promote the growth of new buds, nitrogen fertilizer should be added and the principle of applying thin fertilizer frequently should be adhered to. After the new buds unfold, switch to potassium fertilizer as the main fertilizer to promote the rejuvenation of the seedlings. Spray with potassium dinitrogen phosphate solution once a week to promote leaf growth. Fertilizing during this period can help promote strong branches, thick leaves, fresh leaf color, and lush plants.

Flower-promoting fertilizer: Before flowering, when new branches and leaves stop growing, the flower bud differentiation period will begin. At this time, phosphate fertilizer should be the main fertilizer. Foliar fertilization should be carried out once a week, and pesticides should be sprayed to promote the growth of flower buds.

Dormant fertilizer: In late autumn and early winter, Jianlan will enter a dormant period after the beginning of winter. At this time, foliar fertilizer is generally applied once every 15 to 20 days to ensure Jianlan's safe wintering and to increase the germination rate in the next spring.
