How to plant Gesang flowers

How to plant Gesang flowers

Environmental requirements

The hometown of Gesang flower is the boundless grasslands of Tibet, Qinghai, western Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan. It is regarded by Tibetan folks as a symbol of love and auspiciousness. Gesang flowers like sunlight, are not cold-resistant, are afraid of frost and avoid extreme heat. It can tolerate rough and thin soil, and too much fertilizer and water will cause it to grow too tall with few flowers, or even fall over.

Planting method

The planting method is very simple. You need to choose the seeds before planting (directly purchase mature and sterile seeds). Plant the seeds in April when the temperature is suitable and they will germinate 7-10 days after sowing. After the true leaves grow, you can plant them in separate pots.

Maintenance

When the seedlings have 4-5 true leaves, they should be transplanted and topped off . They can also be thinned out after direct seeding. If base fertilizer is applied to the soil , no further fertilizer is needed during the growing period. If the soil is too fertile, the branches and leaves will tend to grow too tall and the flowering will decrease. Those that bloom during the high temperatures of July and August are unlikely to bear fruit. The seeds fall off easily after they mature , so they should be collected in the early morning.

Gesang flower is a short-day plant . Spring-sown seedlings often have lush leaves and few flowers , while summer-sown seedlings are short, neat, and bloom continuously.

Pests and diseases

The diseases of Gesang flower include leaf spot and powdery mildew. You can spray 500 times diluted 50% Tobacco wettable powder. The pests include aphids and beetles, which can be killed by spraying 2500 times diluted 10% insecticide emulsion.
