Poinsettia aerial layering propagation time

Most of the layering propagation of poinsettia is carried out in April, and no later than July.

Preparation materials for poinsettia aerial layering propagation

Some people like to use yellow mud, but to be honest, it is a bit difficult to do mud work at home. It is recommended to choose paper towels.

There are also disposable syringes (20ml) that can be purchased at pharmacies for 70 cents each.

Method of propagating poinsettia by aerial layering

Ring the branches to be pressurized with a width of about 0.5-1cm, and be careful to scrape off the cambium of the branches.

Use a cotton swab to dip the rooting agent and disinfectant and apply it to the wound.

Wrap the wound with a paper towel, tie it tightly, then wrap it with plastic wrap and tie it tightly. Tie the top of the paper towel with a thin thread, and don't tie the bottom too tightly to allow the roots to pass through. Wrap the outside of the paper towel with plastic wrap and tie it up, making sure to wrap the entire paper towel in the plastic wrap. Poke a few holes in the bottom of the plastic wrap to allow for drainage.

Use a syringe to inject water into the paper towel to soak it thoroughly. Then, rehydrate the paper towel every 1-2 days depending on weather conditions.

Wrap paper towels in paper to block out light.

After roots take shape in about a month, cut off the branches and put them in the pot together with the paper towel to slow down the growth of the seedlings. Soon a new plant will form.
