How to plant and maintain wild wolfberry

When planting wild wolfberry in pots, you should choose suitable pots and soil.

Although wolfberry is not very demanding on the soil and can generally tolerate saline-alkali land, when planting in pots, it is best to choose a slightly acidic to neutral soil that is loose, breathable, and well-drained.

For home potted plants, you can choose a mixture of garden soil, river sand, and leaf mold; it is better to use clay pots or ceramic pots with a diameter of 15 to 20 cm.

Wolfberry likes a dry and hot growing environment, is cold-resistant in winter, and has strong adaptability and resistance. Therefore, the maintenance and management are relatively extensive, and it is very suitable for potted plants at home .

Late autumn and early winter are good times for propagating wolfberries by cuttings. Cut branches from each plant, and the length of the cut is not important. The branches should be about 10 to 15 cm long, and they should be used as cuttings with two buds and inserted into the cultivation medium.

The best soil for the nursery bed or potting is leaf mold and river sand. After the branches are cut, they should be watered sufficiently without shading. After half a month, sprouts can be seen on the cuttings, and fine roots will grow after two months.

Before the leaf buds sprout in spring, if the thick branches of wolfberry are cut into sections and cut into cuttings, it will be easier to survive and will bloom and bear fruit in the second year. During the growth period, apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium organic liquid fertilizer 1 to 2 times a month, and stop fertilizing during the flowering and fruiting period.

In early summer, we should pay attention to the prevention and control of rust on wolfberry, which can easily cause white powder all over the body and cause the whole plant to fall off. In spring, we should spray Bordeaux liquid once every 7 to 10 days for prevention and control.

In short, the maintenance and management of wild wolfberries in pots is extensive, and you only need to pay attention to the following: spray Bordeaux liquid 2 to 3 times in spring to prevent wolfberries from getting rust. Keep the pot soil free of water, sufficient sunlight, and good ventilation and air permeability .

Apply sufficient base fertilizer when potting, and apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer 1 to 2 times a month during the growing season. The potted wolfberry will grow vigorously, produce many large fruits with thick and soft flesh .
