How to care for Tiger Pilan

How to care for Tiger Pilan

Spring maintenance

Change the pot in time

Repotting should be done in spring when the temperature is stable above 15℃. Sansevieria is usually repotted every 2 to 3 years.

Supplemental lighting

Tiger Piranha is strong and adaptable. It can tolerate both sun and partial shade and is relatively easy to manage. Spring is the season when new leaves sprout. Potted plants should be placed on a sunny windowsill for maintenance, the soil in the pots should be kept moist, and fertilizer should be applied in time.

Ensuring that the snake plant has sufficient light can provide enough photosynthetic nutrients for its growth, and can also make the new leaves thick and the patterns prominent and obvious.

Indoor viewing available

In spring, after the snake plant grows new leaves, you can move the plant to a bright place indoors for viewing. Appropriately reducing sunlight exposure will not have a big impact on its growth. Make sure to expose it to the sun regularly.

Summer maintenance

Avoid long-term exposure to strong sunlight

Tiger Piranha likes high temperature environment and can withstand strong light. However, the light is too strong in summer and the leaves are easily aged due to long-term exposure to the sun, making them difficult to appreciate. The snake plant should be placed on a semi-shaded balcony or in a brightly lit place, especially between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius, and try not to expose it to direct sunlight.

Fertilization and watering

The temperature is higher in summer and water evaporates quickly, so you need to spray the leaves around every day to increase the air humidity and pay attention to increasing indoor ventilation. Watering should be based on the dryness and wetness of the soil in the pot. Fertilize first and then water, which will help the fertilizer to take effect.

Autumn maintenance

Increase lighting

When the temperature cools down in autumn, the light exposure of the Sansevieria should be gradually increased. If the Sansevieria that has been placed indoors for a long time is suddenly moved outdoors under strong light, the leaves will easily be burned by the sun.

Low temperature resistance

In autumn, it is advisable to move the Sansevieria outdoors to receive appropriate low-temperature training. Appropriate cold-resistant training can increase its cold-resistant ability. The trained Sansevieria can withstand low temperatures of around 5 °C. Note that the snake plant should be moved indoors before frost.

Winter maintenance

Enter the house

When growing Sansevieria at home, people usually place it on the balcony or in an exposed outdoor environment. When the outdoor temperature drops to 10 ℃, the Sansevieria should be moved indoors for maintenance in time.

Warming up

Sansevieria is not cold-resistant. It can safely overwinter if the room temperature is kept above 5 ℃. Sansevieria will grow slowly if the temperature is above 10 ℃. Therefore, in winter, the snake plant should be placed on a well-lit windowsill to keep the soil in the pot dry. If the soil in the pot is wet at low temperatures, it can easily cause root rot.

When moving the Sansevieria indoors, be careful to keep it away from air-conditioning vents to avoid smoke. Maintain the relative humidity of indoor air to avoid affecting the growth of plants.
