How to repot gardenia

How to repot gardenia

Most of the gardenias purchased on the market are cultivated in greenhouses in the south. When purchasing, try to choose plants that came out of the greenhouse earlier and have no odor on the roots, which are easier to maintain.

Removing the pot and pruning the roots

After returning home, I removed the original disposable pot and you can see that it is full of roots, with many white roots. At this time, I broke the roots apart with my hands and divided them into 4 parts, trying not to damage the roots.

Prepare soil for potting

Prepare the potting soil. You can dig some under the pine tree. It should be breathable, acidic, and have good drainage.

Put the seedlings in the pot, shake them while adding soil. The soil should reach 2/3 of the pot. Press it with your hands and try to make the soil firm.

Watering with a soaking pot

Soak the planted flower pots in water and take them out after more than ten minutes. Use a spray to remove dirt from the leaves.

Pruning and maintenance

Prune off the weak and diseased branches of gardenia to reduce the burden on the roots. Move the flower pot to a cool, dark room for 5 days, then move it to a place with diffuse light and leave it for 10 days. If there is a lack of water during this period, water the plants in time and apply some fertilizer after half a month.
