How to fertilize petunias

How to fertilize petunias

Fertilization method

1. If you want the petunia to bloom more colorful and larger flowers, you should fertilize it earlier. It is recommended to start using it when small flower buds appear, and the effect will be more obvious.

2. However, you must pay attention to the concentration of fertilizer when applying fertilizer. Apply small amounts of fertilizer frequently to avoid burning the seedlings and causing plant death. At the same time, the roots of the plants should be kept as far away as possible from the place where the fertilizer is buried.

3. In winter, as the temperature continues to drop, the metabolic function of petunias will also slow down. At this time, very little water and fertilizer are required. Fertilization can be carried out according to the actual growth conditions of the flowers.

Fertilization type

1. The most important point in fertilizing petunias is to be careful not to use biased fertilizers or heavy fertilizers. You can give petunias nitrogen fertilizers such as urea.

2. During the flowering period, you can apply fertilizers such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate frequently to make the flowers bloom more vigorously.

3. If the petunia flowers become smaller, it may be due to insufficient fertilizer. It should be improved by applying fertilizer mainly containing phosphorus.

4. In addition, peat and coconut bran can be used as soil when planting. The amount of base fertilizer should be sufficient, and slow-release fertilizer and chicken manure can be used. It should be noted that homemade manure is not recommended for use at home. The odor of this fertilizer is unbearable and it easily attracts insects.
