Should spider plants be pruned?

Want to trim?

Is the spider plant in your home growing longer and longer and gradually turning yellow? What should you do? Trim? NO! Be sure not to cut it. Each leaf of the spider plant is connected to the rhizome. Pulling it out or cutting it short directly will affect the growth of the roots. Moreover, the spider plant will look ugly after trimming the leaves.

What should I do if I can’t trim it?

Chlorophytum can be left alone, so why bother pruning it? If you are really free and just want to take good care of it, you should do the following:

Control water and fertilizer

Pay special attention to watering, and make sure to water the plants when they are wet and dry when they are dry. Chlorophytum has a well-developed root system and strong water storage capacity, so controlling water is very important; as for fertilizing, once a month is enough.

Good ventilation

If the spider plant has reached the point where it needs to be pruned, it means that the environment it is in is not good and it needs timely ventilation and increased light.

Repotting

It is better to repot and replant than to prune. There are two ways to overload:

The first method is root division cultivation

Divide the original spider plant, cut off the creeping stems, old leaves and excess roots near the roots, and replant it.

The second method is sprout cultivation

Cut off the "small spider plants" that are growing well and sprouting, and then plant them in pots, paying attention to slowing the growth of the seedlings.

Don’t think of pruning as soon as you encounter a problem. Out of sight, out of mind won’t solve all problems. The above method is very practical, isn’t it? I hope it will be helpful to you!
