Cultivation methods and precautions of Yushu

1. Lighting

It likes light, and it should be placed in a bright and warm environment all year round, which is the key to flowering.

2. Temperature

Spring and autumn are the suitable growing seasons for jade plant, and the suitable temperature for growth is 20-30℃.

Provide shade during high temperatures in summer to avoid direct sunlight. Growth will be slow when the temperature exceeds 38°C.

In winter, place it in a sunny place indoors and maintain a room temperature of 7-10℃. If the temperature drops below 0℃, they will freeze to death.

3. Watering

Jade plant is a succulent plant and is very drought-resistant. It should not be watered too much at normal times. It should be watered when the soil is dry and only watered when it is completely dry.

During the growing season, jade plant should be watered once every 2-3 days, but water should not accumulate. When cultivated outdoors, it should be avoided from heavy rain, otherwise too much water will accumulate at the roots, causing root rot and death.

Strictly control watering in the hot and humid July and August. And ventilation should be strengthened, otherwise it will easily cause leaves to fall. It is best to place it in semi-shaded place for maintenance.

After autumn, watering should be gradually reduced, and watering should be reduced in winter. The soil in the pot should be slightly dry.

4. Fertilization

Top dressing is required during the growing period, generally apply decomposed thin cake liquid fertilizer 2-3 times a month. In order to keep the jade plant full, do not apply too much fertilizer and water to avoid causing excessive growth.

5. Notes

(1) Pruning. Jade tree pruning can be done according to personal preference. It prefers a round and full crown. When pruning, cut off the overgrown branches and the overly overlapping and crowded branches, so that the outer crown of the plant is round and the inner branches are properly dense. If the tree is old, with a thick trunk and an incomplete crown, it can be pruned or made into a bonsai-style stump, with some branches and leaves cut off according to the needs of the shape.

(2) Repotting. The plant needs to be repotted every spring. When repotting or placing it indoors in autumn, attention should be paid to shaping and pruning to make its shape more simple and elegant.
