Cultivation methods and precautions of prickly lettuce

1. Soil

When growing prickly lettuce, you must be careful when choosing the soil. It is best to choose soil that is breathable, fertile, and has good water-conserving properties. However, the soil that meets these conditions is acidic.

2. Water

Adequate water absorption during the growth and development period can make the plant grow rapidly, so proper watering is necessary. Watering should be done about twice a week. The amount of water should be sufficient to water the plants thoroughly without water accumulation, to avoid water shortage due to insufficient water and root rot due to excessive water.

3. Nutrients

During its growth period, it should be supplemented with sufficient fertilizer, and fertilization should be done once every half a month. It is best to use farmyard manure as fertilizer. When applying topdressing, it should be placed a little further away from the roots to avoid burns to the roots of the plant due to excessive heat from the fertilizer.

4. Lighting

It likes long periods of sunlight, and sufficient sunlight absorption can make its branches and leaves thick. Although it is a light-loving plant, it should avoid direct sunlight. Too strong light will make the branches and leaves turn yellow and wilt, so proper protection is necessary.
