Is Kalanchoe herbaceous or woody? How to fertilize Kalanchoe

1. Is it herbaceous or woody?

Kalanchoe is a perennial herb belonging to the genus Kalanchoe in the Crassulaceae family. It is actually a kind of succulent, also known as Christmas Kalanchoe. It grows better in a warm environment with plenty of light. The leaves of the plant grow densely green and the small flowers grow in clusters. It is a flower with great ornamental value. The longevity flower grows very small and has a pleasant name, so it is not only suitable for growing in your own family, but also can be given to others.

2. How to fertilize

During the seedling period of Kalanchoe, fertilizer with high nitrogen content needs to be applied, which is very helpful for the growth of its branches and leaves. In spring, you should apply some balanced fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to the Kalanchoe. When the temperature rises in summer, there is no need to fertilize it. It will enter a period of vigorous growth in autumn, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used for root irrigation or spraying. When fertilizing the plants, it is usually done once every half a month or so, both in spring and autumn. It should not be applied too frequently.

3. Notes

When applying fertilizer, you need to be careful not to apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the leaves of the plant will grow very large and easily affect its ornamental value. Fertilization should be applied in small amounts and frequently, but do not apply the fertilizer to the leaves, as this will cause rot. Wash them off with water in time. In addition, do not fertilize the newly purchased Kalanchoe.
