What does a fortune tree look like? Is it better to have a single pole or a braided one?

1. Morphological characteristics

1. Branches and leaves: The crown of the money tree is very loose, and the leaflets have very short petioles, which are oblong to obovate, gradually pointed at the apex, and entire. The midrib of the plant's leaves is very flat when viewed from above, while the back is raised. There are usually 16-20 pairs of lateral veins, the middle network veins are very fine and dense, and the petiole is about 11-15cm long.

2. Flowers: The flowers are solitary, with pedicels 2 cm long and very thick. The calyx is cup-shaped, nearly leathery, about 1.3 cm in diameter and about 1.5 cm high. The petals are light yellow-green, narrowly lanceolate to linear, and the upper part is recurved. The style is dark red, the filaments are yellow at the bottom and turn red upwards.

3. Fruit: The capsule has a thick outer skin and is hairless, but the inside is densely covered with long cotton hairs. It is nearly pear-shaped, and the diameter of the fruit is about 4-6cm. The lobes are split open, with multiple seeds in each chamber, and the seeds inside are irregular ladder-like wedges 2-2.5 cm in length.

2. Is it better to have a single pole or a braid?

The single-stem money tree and the braided money tree each have their own advantages and disadvantages, and you can choose according to your needs. Single-pole trees are relatively easy to grow, and it is not difficult to control the shape of the tree. You can trim it according to the shape you want. But it looks very desolate and its viewing value may be slightly lower. The crown of the braided tree will be larger and the shape will be more beautiful, making the plant look very sturdy. The disadvantage is that it is not easy to maintain, and if it is not maintained well, the shape will become uglier.
