What kind of plant is creeper and what are the characteristics of its leaves?

1. What is the plant?

Ivy is a large deciduous vine plant, it is perennial, and people also call it stone dragon, crouching tiger, little bug grass, red silk grass, red kudzu, red grape vine, and Bashan tiger. It is a plant of the grape family and often climbs on rocks or exterior walls. It looks lush and green in spring and is very ornamental. Moreover, it blooms in the summer and its leaves turn orange-yellow in the fall.

2. Characteristics of leaves

The leaves of Parthenocissus tricuspidata are alternate, the leaflets are relatively thick, the base is wedge-shaped, the leaves and veins are symmetrical, and there are coarse serrations on the leaf edges. The leaves growing on the flower branches are broadly ovate, 8-18cm long, often three-lobed, and sometimes the leaves on the lower branches are split into three leaflets with a heart-shaped base. Its leaves are hairless, with white powder on the back and are green in color. The veins on the underside of the leaves are pubescent and turn bright red or yellow in autumn.

3. Growth habits

It is a plant with strong adaptability. It likes to grow in a shady and humid environment. In warm temperate zones or southern regions, it remains evergreen or semi-green in winter. It is not afraid of strong light and can grow in the shade or in the sun. It has very good drought resistance, cold resistance and pruning resistance, but is more afraid of waterlogging. It likes a warm growing environment, is afraid of the cold, and has a good ability to tolerate barrenness.
