Hami melon planting time and method

Hami melon planting time

Hami melons are usually sown after the late frost, and the ground temperature needs to be stabilized at around 14 degrees before sowing. If the melon field is covered with plastic film, sowing can be carried out around April 20. If plastic film is not used, the planting time can be appropriately delayed.

Hami melon planting method

1. Site selection and land preparation: When planting Hami melons, you need to be careful that they are not suitable for continuous cropping. They need to be planted in sandy loam that is loose, fertile, and rich in organic matter. In addition, summer and autumn ploughing are required before planting.

2. Seed soaking and disinfection: Before planting Hami melon, you need to select suitable seeds and soak them in formalin 200% solution for two hours, then rinse them with clean water, and finally germinate and sow them.

3. Sowing method: When sowing Hami melon, the soil temperature must be stable at around 14 degrees. Pit sowing can be used with a plant spacing of 45-60 cm. The depth can be determined according to soil conditions.

Precautions for planting cantaloupe

1. Hami melons will sprout in about 3-5 days after sowing, so at this time, you can pierce the plastic film, and check the seedlings and replant to ensure that the seedlings are neat.

2. After Hami melon sprouts, it has a relatively high demand for water and fertilizer. It needs to be watered and fertilized in time during the maintenance period so that it will grow better.
