How to grow Peruvian sugar apple

How to grow Peruvian sugar apple

1. Soil

When growing Peruvian sugar apple, it is best to use soil with strong water retention. It is not very strict on soil quality. If conditions permit, you can use slightly acidic high-quality sandy loam.

2. Temperature

Peruvian sugar apple is a tropical crop. When caring for it, the temperature must be controlled at around 28°C and the minimum must not be lower than 18°C. Low temperatures can cause it to stop growing and develop, and cause leaf drop problems.

3. Watering

During the period of vigorous growth and development, water frequently to ensure that there is moisture every day. However, it is also necessary to consider the humidity environment and the water retention level of the soil to avoid water accumulation and root rot. After it grows up, 2-3 times a week is enough.

4. Fertilization

It has a large demand for fertilizer. During maintenance, it can be fertilized once every half a month. The fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented with superphosphate and urea to promote plant growth.

5. Lighting

Peruvian sugar apple is a long-day plant and needs to receive full day sunlight. Provide it with sufficient light to avoid problems such as yellow leaves and slow growth.

6. Notes

1. Pollination: The self-fruitfulness rate of Peruvian sugar apple is too low. Artificial pollination can be carried out after flowering to improve fruiting efficiency.

2. Pruning: You can prune high branches regularly to prevent them from growing too high and affecting their appearance.
