Sunflower flowering period, when is the sunflower season

Sunflower flowering period, when is the sunflower season

1. Sunflower flowering period

Sunflowers are usually sown around February to April each year, and it takes about sixty to eighty days from the development and maturity of the seeds to flowering. According to the growth cycle, sunflowers bloom in summer, which happens to be the hottest months of July and August. At this time, sunflowers bloomed one after another, as if urging each other to bloom.

However, if some sunflowers are planted late, their flowering period will be delayed. Because sunflowers have strong vitality and can be sown all year round, it is quite common for them to bloom in May or October.

2. When does sunflower bloom?

Because sunflowers are planted at different times, their flowering seasons are also inconsistent. But most of them will still bloom in July and August every year, which is summer. Some are open in late spring, early summer or early autumn.

3. Methods to prolong the flowering period

Delaying pollination time: Sunflowers generally wither after they start to bear fruit, but if pollination is delayed, the fruiting time can be postponed. Just keep insects like bees and butterflies away from sunflowers while they are blooming.

Ensure sufficient light: Sunflowers grow towards the sun and must have sufficient light to grow better. During the flowering period, it is necessary to ensure sufficient sunlight, which will make its color brighter and the flowering time will be relatively prolonged.

Control the amount of watering: Sunflowers themselves do not like water, so you must pay attention to controlling the amount of watering during the flowering period. Overwatering will cause it to grow faster and hasten the end of its flowering period. On the contrary, the flowering period will be relatively longer.

Remember to keep it warm: Some sunflowers are planted late and will bloom later, so you need to keep them warm. A warm environment will allow it to bloom longer, while temperatures that are too low will cause the plant to wither and die.
