When does the sunflower bloom? Sunflower pictures

1. When does the sunflower bloom?

Sunflower, also known as sun flower and sunflower, is a kind of oil crop native to Europe. The shape of its flower resembles the sun and its color is golden.

1. Flowering time

If the flowers are sown in April each year, the sunflower flowering period will be from July to August of the same year, and the seeds will mature from August to September. In addition, it can be encouraged to bloom all year round by accumulating heat. As long as the temperature is high enough, it will bloom. Potted sunflowers usually begin to bloom in June every year.

2. Flowering Mechanism

It usually takes six to nine days for a sunflower to fully open. Generally, the peak flowering period is from the second to the fifth day after flowering, with large numbers of flowers and high ornamental value.

3. Flowering form

Sunflowers have single or double petals and look like a large flower disk. The flowers come in a variety of colors, including golden yellow, orange yellow and purple red, and the disk has ligulate and tubular flowers.

4. Flowering period management

After the sunflower blooms, make sure there is enough light in its growing environment. If it is a potted plant, it is best to place it on a sunny balcony and water it in time to ensure adequate water supply. In addition, timely fertilization can be applied. Urea plus diammonium phosphate can be applied once a week to supplement nutrients.

Also pay attention to prevent locusts. When sunflowers bloom, they attract many insects, the most important of which is the sunflower borer, which feeds on sunflower seeds. After rain, the flower disk will rot. You can dilute talcum powder to make a dust agent for spraying, once every two or three days.
