Differences between Nepenthes and Drosera

1. Different plant types

Nepenthes is a plant of the Nepenthes family, Nepenthes genus. It is also called water pitcher plant, monkey water bottle, and thunder pot. It is a vine plant with a woody or semi-woody stem. It can grow to about 3 meters high. Some plants can climb trees, while others can grow along the ground.

Drosera belongs to the Drosera family and Drosera genus. It is also called mountain pepper, pepper grass, sundew, and skinkweed. It is a perennial herb with relatively upright stems, some of which are climbing. Most of them grow and develop in a rosette shape. The general height is within 9-15 cm, but some can climb and grow to more than 1 meter in height.

2. Different leaves

The leaves of the pitcher plant are oblong, with vines at the end, and at the end of the vines there is an insect trap with a lid that can catch insects.

The leaves of sundew have various shapes, which vary according to the species. Its color is green, and it turns bright red or yellow-green when the light is good.

3. Different flowers

The flowers of the pitcher plant are racemes, the flowers are relatively small, the smell is lighter during the day, and the smell becomes stronger at night.

The petals of the sundew are wedge-shaped and the flower colors are light pink, red, and white.
