The difference between lotus and pennywort

1. Different plant types

Nasturtium is also known as golden lotus, dry lotus, cold lotus, dry lotus, golden money lotus, etc. It is a plant of the Nasturtium family and the genus Nasturtium. It is a semi-climbing plant with a plant height of about 30-70 cm.

The pennywort is a creeping herb. It belongs to the Apiaceae family and the genus Aquilegia. The upright part of the plant is about 8-37 cm tall. The plant has sparse and dense soft hairs, so it appears white or purple.

2. Different leaves

The leaves of the lotus are round shield-shaped, with relatively slender petioles, about 3-10 cm in diameter, and 9 main veins radiating from the middle to the surrounding areas. There are wavy shallow notches on the edges of the leaves, and there are sparse hairs on the back of the leaves.

The leaves of the pennywort are round or kidney-shaped, dark green on the surface and light green on the back. There are 5-7 shallow cracks on the leaves, irregular serrations on the edges, and a lot of hairs on the back of the leaves.

3. Different flowers

The lotus usually has single axillary flowers with a diameter of about 2.5-6 cm. The flowers come in many colors, including purple, orange, yellow, and variegated colors.

The flowers of the pennywort are generally solitary at the nodes, but may also be axillary or opposite, with 25-50 small umbels. The flowers are green in the bud stage and turn white after flowering.
