The difference between mountain cherry and elmleaf plum

The difference between mountain cherry and elmleaf plum

1. Difference between branches and leaves

Mountain cherry, also known as hairy cherry, looks very similar to the latter, and the plant height is basically the same. The branches are brown in color and relatively crisp. The leaves are relatively rough, with small hairs on both sides, which can be felt when you touch them. There are sharp serrations on the edges of the leaves, and the leaf ends are not cracked.

The elmleaf plum is different from the former. The color of its branches is purple and the color of its twigs is gray. The leaves are relatively smooth, with coarse serrations on the edges and a little hair on the back.

2. Different flowers

The blooming time of mountain cherry is the same as the growth time of leaves. The flower color is relatively light, mainly white with a little pink.

The flowers of Prunus armeniaca will bloom earlier than the leaves, and the color is more pink, showing a pink feeling, looking tender and tender, and then the color will gradually become lighter.

3. Different fruits

Wild cherries produce a large number of fruits, but the fruits are relatively small, with a diameter of about 0.8-1 cm. There are no ridges on the surface of the fruit except for the longitudinal grooves on both sides.

The number of fruits produced by Prunus armeniaca is relatively small, and the double-petal varieties basically do not produce fruit, but the individual fruits are relatively large, about 1-1.8 cm in diameter, with irregular reticular patterns on the surface.
